Prayer Shawl Ministry

Whispered Prayers Prayer Shawls

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart
and with all your soul
and with all your strength
and with all your mind,
and Love your neighbor as yourself.”
[Luke 10:27]

Hands of love weave comfort through our Prayer Shawl Ministry. Prayer shawls, lapghans, and baby blankets are given to celebrate the gift of love, friendship, and caring. They offer comfort during illness, and for those undergoing surgery, medical procedures or the loss of a loved one. Compassionate caring and the love of handcrafting are combined into a prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need of blessing and comfort.

Those who make prayer shawls, lapghans, and baby blankets are never sure who will receive their work of art, knitted or crocheted in love and prayer. All they know is that someone will be blessed by it, and hopefully God’s healing love will flow into their lives through the shawl, lapghan, or baby blanket they have created.

You can make prayer shawls, lapghans, and baby blankets whenever you choose to suit your schedule and, as you are able, gather with others in a Circle of Prayer and Creativity. Whispered Prayers – A Prayer Shawl Ministry is for both beginner and experienced knitters and crocheters. Join Whispered Prayers the third Friday of each month from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at Talihina First United Methodist Church.
